Up In Flames

Sorry we have been missing in action lately, but as many of you already know we are in the process of moving so life has been a little crazy lately.

Today we will be posting about a service we performed a month or so ago. We didn't place it on the blog, there are actually quite a few services that have touched our hearts so much that we have keep them more private, but since I am not totally sure how much time we will have in the next month I decided to share this cute service with everyone.
The above quote fits our family perfectly. I came from a very close knit extended family. And when we heard that family members who live in another state recently had a house fire we knew that we just had to do something to help. This family has 2 kids and all of their toys and clothes went up in flames. The Super Heroes felt so bad when they heard this that they decided they wanted to help.

We went to Walmart and got them a gift certificate that the kids could use to buy them some new toys. It wasn't much but we felt that is what they needed to raise their spirits.

Here is the letter Roy wrote to go with the gift card. So cute if I do must say so myself :)

Since one of the children was a girl, Roy wanted to draw her a picture of a Barbie Doll. He thought that she would like that. I am not totally sure how he knows what a Barbie is since this is a Tonka Truck kind of house with all these boys but I am sure the neighbor girls next door maybe enlightened him to the world of Barbie :)

Dallas picture - not totally sure what it is but cute still the same :)

And Dakota's master piece :)

We hope that this small act of kindness brought and smile to their face and also a great new toy into their life.

Egged!

Are you ready for some Easter-inspired fun?
The Super Hero's of Service LOVED doing this!

Thanks to pinterest we came across this idea and loved it.
I wish I was creative enough to come up with
this but I am not.
Here is the website were we found this:

This Easter, the Super Hero's of Service are encouraging
you and your kids to go EGG your friends!

Let's start a new tradition and enjoy some spring time fun!
Look at that! You’ve just been EGGed!
But do not be alarmed.
We came, we dropped, we ran away…
Your house, it was not harmed.

So what is this before you now?
Just an early spring surprise.
Be quick and look around your yard…
Twelve EGGs lay in disguise.

A secret friend has just dropped by
To share some spring time cheer.
So now you’re it! It’s now your turn
To EGG a house that’s near.

Select a friend, or two or three…
Gather a dozen EGGs for each.
Be sly and hide them, knock and flee!
Leave this message at arm’s reach.

Hang a poster at your door
And now your task’s complete.
Days ‘til Easter aren’t much more…
Aren’t surprises sweet!

 Here's how it works...

Collect a dozen plastic eggs for each friend you plan to EGG.

Fill the eggs with treats or other small prizes.

Make copies of the EGGed Poem and Poster.
You will need one copy for each friend.
We rolled the two pages together and tied them with a ribbon.

Plan your "drop".  You want to find a time to hide the eggs in your friend's yard when they aren't out and about, and not likely to catch you!  Be sneaky, quiet and quick!  We thought that dinner-time was the best time to pay our visits.

Hide the eggs around your friend's yard.

Leave the Poem and Poster at the door step.

Ring the bell

 and run!!

Here we are waiting from inside our house for our next door neighbor's to discover the surprise.
The Super Hero's were so excited!

We hope you will start this fun tradition with the Super Hero's in your life too!

Enjoy A Couple Of Bucks On Us

The mommy found these cute candy bucks at Walmart on clearance and she knew that the Super Hero's could use them for something cute.

So the mommy went to Photoshop and made this:

It says:

We Know Times Are Tough
And Money Is Tight
So Please Enjoy
A Couple of BUCKS
On Us!

Love,
The Super Hero's of Service

And then we added the chocolate bucks and so here is the finished product:

Next, we then set out to hand deliver them to people. Our first stop was to Walmart.

All this running around makes us so thirsty :)

Our second stop was Seagull Bookstore. The women here were so friendly to us.

And our final stop was awesome!!

We went to the LDS Cannery. Everyone there is always very nice to us when we go in so we thought it would be wonderful to perform a service for them since they are always serving others. They are a perfect example of service with a smile :)

Look at Dakota's face. He is listening intently.

What a wonderful time!

It just goes to show you that it doesn't take much money to make people smile :)

Love Your Neighbor

The tornadoes have taken around 30 lives and destroyed towns. But in the midst of this devastation, hope remains in the thoughts and actions of individuals that are giving of themselves to help their neighbors.

This weekend, I have read so many stories from various news outlets. I was simply blown away with the spirit of charity and passion from the not only the volunteers helping out but also the families who lost their homes. Over all, I think my favorite story to hear was how two churches in Joplin Missouri had gone to two different towns to help with the people there. One church went to Branson Missouri, the other went to Harrisburg, Illinois. These churches and their pastors have been through so much with the Joplin tornado last year, they know the pain the people in these towns are going through and their needs. They gathered the needed supplies and drove to where they felt they were needed in order for them to give back to their neighbors. This is truly the spirit of charity, we help each other in times of need.
I pray that this week, as your days fly by with all that "stuff" that is always packed into our lives; that you will reach out and help your neighbors across the country. Please keep our fellow neighbors in your prayers and if possible donate money to Red Cross or Mercury One or LDS Humanitarian Services. Even $10 can go along way if that is all you have to give or if money is tight - give blood to your local red cross. The possibilities are endless. :)

And stay tuned for some more service from the Super Hero's coming soon.
