Little Box of Sunshine

Since it is August and we do live in Vegas, the sun is always a factor. The mom of the Super Heroes aka. me :) has been trying to think of good services that we can do inside our home for the most part. We are melting here :)

We decided that it would be a great time to spread a little sunshine and just maybe brighten up someones day. And Walla!!!

Bring in the Little Box of Sunshine. (You gotta love pinterest - which is where I got the idea from)

We started by taking a box and spray painting it yellow. And as my mom (the Super Heroes Grandma) can attest to this was a job for the mommy. I know it would be anyways but I am going to take this opportunity to tell you all a story :)

Warning: Random story that doesn't have anything to do with our service project this month.

We were in Idaho last week visiting with family and attending the Little Buckaroo Rodeo - a cute rodeo for kids only. It is adorable. Anyways, my parents house is NOT kid proof and my 3 Super Heroes found some spray paint. Roy thought it was would so fun to spray paint his brothers red. Dakota got the most of the paint splatter and we are still scrubbing the paint off of his legs. Thank goodness I got there before any real damage could have been done. The boys were laughing so hard. They thought it was so fun. They couldn't understand why I was mad - makes me laugh now though :)

Anyways back to our service, here we are painting the boxes.

After they dried, we filled them with anything yellow.

Cute Dakota :)

Again :)

Here is what the boxes looked like (we made 2):

Next we printed out the card that I (the Super Heroes mommy) made with the help of my trusty side kick - Photoshop.

We added some cute sun clip art and placed the card in our boxes.

We ran out of spray paint. Oh well still turned out cute :)

Then we were off to deliver them.

Okay we have to be as quiet as Ninja's.

I know that the cards show the Super Heroes faces so it is not really a surprise who has given this service but we still ring the doorbell and run. They LOVE it!! It is their favorite services to do.

And now onto the next house:

Ring the Doorbell.
Run....

We hope that the wonderful people who received these Little Boxes of Sunshine LOVED them as much as we LOVED making them.

Hopefully we inspire a few people to get out there and spread a little SUNSHINE.

Sending Love Your Way

We just recently heard that two different friends of our family had just been released from the hospital so we decided to brainstorm what The Super Heroes of Service could do to help them. We came up with the following:

Get Better Medicine :)

And here is how we did it:

The Super Heroes mommy used her trusty side kick - Photoshop.
Here is the prescription tag she made to go with the medicine.

Here is Super Hero Roy writing the card.
the card - Super Roy was running out of room so
we had to add some text to the bottom of the card :)

The card says:
front -"Just thought you could use a little extra sunshine today"
inside - " We wanted to let you know that you are loved. We hope that you are feeling better but if not here is some "medicine" for you to take in order to feel better."

Super Hero Roy adding the "medicine"

The finished product
Time to get moving...

The Super Heroes flexing their muscles.
Let's Get Going :)

Getting in the official Super Hero ride.
We have arrived to one of our destinations.
We were pretending to be Ninja's so we would not be heard.
Shhhhh!
Placing the medicine and card on the door step.

Ring the bell and...
RUN!!!!
We love do any service were getting to ring the door bell and run. That is the Super Heroes favorite.

We did get caught though at the first place we went to . We hid behind a hedge and watched to make sure someone was home (this is Las Vegas and it is over 100 degrees so we didn't want to leave M&M's to make a melted mess). When the person came to the door. She bent over picked up the medicine and card. She read the card and then looked around to see if she could see anyone. Well Super Hero Dakota jumped out from behind the hedge and started to wave. The women blew kisses and said "Thank You so much!" She started to come towards us and then Dakota ran to the get away truck.

Too cute! Wonderful memories were made for the Hutchings family today :)

Have I Done Any Good?

American Idol's Carmen Rasmusen Herbert teams up with Alex Boyé for this fun and inspiring new music video.

The Super Heroes have LOVED listening to this while we are preparing our next service. Make sure to check it out! And stay tuned for the next service which should be completed next week :)

Happy Independence Day from the Super Heroes of Service

We just wanted to take a moment and express our thanks to all of those, past and present, who have preserved our freedom in this wonderful country that we live.

We do not have the words to express our love and adoration for our Founding Fathers - who were inspired by God.
A big thanks and hug goes to the biggest Super Hero in our home our Daddy for his service - Go Army!! What a stud!!! (says the Super Heroes mommy)

The Super Heroes will be MIA for the next couple of weeks as we are going to enjoy this time as a family. But don't worry we have already started our next service. We will post pictures as soon as we have completed it :)

By Small and Simple Things are Great Things Brought to Pass

Many people have asked me how I have time to help my children commitment to fulfilling service project(s) each month so this month we wanted to show you an example of a "small" service we did this past week. You would be amazed at what you accomplish if you sat down and write down all the "small" services you or your family does you will see there is actually many lives that you and/or your family have touched.

As many of you know, we moved three weeks ago. I stayed in Utah until our kids got out of school for the year and my husband moved to Las Vegas to start his new job. We were apart for almost 3 months. Which made it fun for me to be able to pack all by myself. We went though as much of our "stuff" as we could while still in Utah and we donated many toys, clothes, etc. to Friends of Multiple Sclerosis www.friendsofms.com

The Friends of Multiple Sclerosis is an organization that helps those with MS by supporting cutting edge research and by donating to programs that provide services that help people with MS cope with this disease.

But try as I may I could not go through everything. So the last 3 weeks or so we have been going through more of our "stuff". We then donated old clothing that mommy and daddy have outgrown (I like to think the clothes actually shrunk), wall hangings, dvd's, etc. to Opportunity Village http://www.opportunityvillage.org/

Opportunity Village is a not-for-profit organization that serves people with intellectual disabilities. They provide them with vocational training, employment, and social recreation services. I LOVE this charity!!!!! What a wonderful cause!!!

We also donated the clothes that Super Hero Roy, Super Hero Dallas, and Super Hero Dakota had out grown to a family in our Church who recently had twin boys. Since our family knows the expense of having multiples we thought that this would be another great thing to do.

I didn't get a chance to take pictures of our kids dropping off our donation items to Friends of MS and Opportunity Village but I did get pictures of us delivering the boys clothes to the family in our Church.

We had just ran through the sprinklers in our yard so don't mind the shirtless Super Heroes :)

For a job like this we need a Super Hero!

Bringing in the muscle!
Let's get to work!

Trying to carry a bag to the truck.
