Happy Independence Day from the Super Heroes of Service

We just wanted to take a moment and express our thanks to all of those, past and present, who have preserved our freedom in this wonderful country that we live.

We do not have the words to express our love and adoration for our Founding Fathers - who were inspired by God.

A big thanks and hug goes to the biggest Super Hero in our home our Daddy for his service - Go Army!! What a stud!!! (says the Super Heroes mommy)

The Super Heroes will be MIA for the next couple of weeks as we are going to enjoy this time as a family. But don't worry we have already started our next service. We will post pictures as soon as we have completed it :)

By Small and Simple Things are Great Things Brought to Pass

Many people have asked me how I have time to help my children commitment to fulfilling service project(s) each month so this month we wanted to show you an example of a "small" service we did this past week. You would be amazed at what you accomplish if you sat down and write down all the "small" services you or your family does you will see there is actually many lives that you and/or your family have touched.

As many of you know, we moved three weeks ago. I stayed in Utah until our kids got out of school for the year and my husband moved to Las Vegas to start his new job. We were apart for almost 3 months. Which made it fun for me to be able to pack all by myself. We went though as much of our "stuff" as we could while still in Utah and we donated many toys, clothes, etc. to Friends of Multiple Sclerosis www.friendsofms.com

The Friends of Multiple Sclerosis is an organization that helps those with MS by supporting cutting edge research and by donating to programs that provide services that help people with MS cope with this disease.

But try as I may I could not go through everything. So the last 3 weeks or so we have been going through more of our "stuff". We then donated old clothing that mommy and daddy have outgrown (I like to think the clothes actually shrunk), wall hangings, dvd's, etc. to Opportunity Village http://www.opportunityvillage.org/

Opportunity Village is a not-for-profit organization that serves people with intellectual disabilities. They provide them with vocational training, employment, and social recreation services. I LOVE this charity!!!!! What a wonderful cause!!!

We also donated the clothes that Super Hero Roy, Super Hero Dallas, and Super Hero Dakota had out grown to a family in our Church who recently had twin boys. Since our family knows the expense of having multiples we thought that this would be another great thing to do. 

I didn't get a chance to take pictures of our kids dropping off our donation items to Friends of MS and Opportunity Village but I did get pictures of us delivering the boys clothes to the family in our Church.

We had just ran through the sprinklers in our yard so don't mind the shirtless Super Heroes :)

For a job like this we need a Super Hero!

Big Announcement

We have a big announcement to make. We have known about this for a few months but I have kept it under wraps until I was given the go ahead.

The Super Heroes of Service are going to be featured in the LDS Magazine called The Friend. Yep, that is right we are going to be published. How exciting!!! It was very hard for me not to tell everyone but now I can "spill the beans".

I was really surprised to learn that the Friend is actually written a year in advance. Kind of surprising, right? So coming April or May of 2013 make sure to look for us :)

We will be done with this project before it gets published but we are super excited. Remember that this is a year long project - don't worry though as I already have a great idea for our project for next year. I can't wait to tell everyone come December what we have up our sleeve :)

Up In Flames

Sorry we have been missing in action lately, but as many of you already know we are in the process of moving so life has been a little crazy lately.

Today we will be posting about a service we performed a month or so ago. We didn't place it on the blog, there are actually quite a few services that have touched our hearts so much that we have keep them more private, but since I am not totally sure how much time we will have in the next month I decided to share this cute service with everyone.

The above quote fits our family perfectly. I came from a very close knit extended family. And when we heard that family members who live in another state recently had a house fire we knew that we just had to do something to help. This family has 2 kids and all of their toys and clothes went up in flames. The Super Heroes felt so bad when they heard this that they decided they wanted to help.

We went to Walmart and got them a gift certificate that the kids could use to buy them some new toys. It wasn't much but we felt that is what they needed to raise their spirits.

Here is the letter Roy wrote to go with the gift card. So cute if I do must say so myself :) 

Since one of the children was a girl, Roy wanted to draw her a picture of a Barbie Doll. He thought that she would like that. I am not totally sure how he knows what a Barbie is since this is a Tonka Truck kind of house with all these boys but I am sure the neighbor girls next door maybe enlightened him to the world of Barbie :)

 Here's how it works...

 Collect a dozen plastic eggs for each friend you plan to EGG.

Fill the eggs with treats or other small prizes.

Make copies of the EGGed Poem and Poster.

You will need one copy for each friend.  

We rolled the two pages together and tied them with a ribbon.

Plan your "drop".  You want to find a time to hide the eggs in your friend's yard when they aren't out and about, and not likely to catch you!  Be sneaky, quiet and quick!  We thought that dinner-time was the best time to pay our visits.

Hide the eggs around your friend's yard.

Leave the Poem and Poster at the door step.

Ring the bell

 and run!!
