Pass It On

Another wonderful video:

Have I Done Any Good

Have I done any good in the world today?
Have I helped anyone in need?
Have I cheered up the sad or made someone feel glad?
If not, I have failed indeed.
Has anyone's burden been lighter today
Because I was willing to share?
Have the sick and the weary been helped on their way?
When they needed my help was I there?

Then wake up and do something more
Than dream of your mansion above.
Doing good is a pleasure, a joy beyond measure,
A blessing of duty and love.

There are chances for work all around just now,
Opportunities right in our way.
Do not let them pass by, saying, "Sometime I'll try."
But go and do something today.
'Tis noble of man to work and to give;
Love's labor has merit alone.
Only he who does something helps others to live.
To God each good work will be known.

A Smile Revolution

We have had a lot of fun since the last time we checked in. We have many great service ideas - the problem is there is not enough time in the day to get them all done so we are trying to pace ourselves.

And now onto our next service: The mommy found this poem online somewhere in her travels. And she thought that it was so cute that it was perfect for our next service.

A Smile For You

Smiling is infectious; you catch it like the flu. When someone smiled at me today, I started smiling too. I passed around the corner and someone saw my grin. When he smiled I realized I'd passed it on to him. I thought about that smile then I realized it's worth, a single smile, just like mine could travel round the earth. So, if you feel a smile begin, don't leave it undetected. Let's start an epidemic quick, and get the world infected! KEEP THE SMILES GOING

Super Hero Roy drew a smiley face.

Then the mommy scanned it into the computer and then thanks to photoshop designed this:

We then thought it would be fun if we went to our local library and placed them in books and magazines so when people checked out the book it would hopefully make them smile.

Dallas getting one of the books

Placing the smiling poem in the book

All done with this one

And on to the next one.
Dallas looking for the next book.
Dakota finding our next book.
We placed about 45 smile poems in various books and magazines all throughout the library.

But with so many fun things in the library, even a Super Hero can get distracted:

Playing with the train set in the library.

The twins on the computer.

We still have about 15 extra pictures and we will (as soon as it stops snowing and raining) go to the local grocery store and hand some out. We will update this post when we complete that.

We had a ton of fun with this and we challenge everyone reading this to start a smile revolution in your own neighborhood :)

I Hope Someday They Call Me On A Mission!

We have been working on this service for a while. But we can officially announce that we have finished and delivered our next service. Roy, Dallas and Dakota have a cousin who is in the Mission Training Center (MTC) in Provo, Utah. She is currently preparing to serve an LDS Dutch speaking mission in the Netherlands. Since she preparing herself right now to serve the people in the Netherlands we wanted to make sure and do a little a little service for her as well. We put together a Missionary Survival kit for her. The mom (me) did most of the early work but the boys had a lot of FUN putting everything in the box. The following was what we included:

Zuster is Sister in Dutch :)

Packing Up The Box!

The box before we sealed it up. We also included a family photo for Zuster Hinchcliff to keep, a picture of the boys with their Super Hero Capes on, and also a letter that I wrote. I went to google translator and typed in the English version of my letter and this awesome website translates your letter into any language (for us we needed Dutch).

THE PACKAGE:
All ready to mail.

We then took it to the mailing station. The ladies who worked there LOVE the capes.

UPDATE: We just wanted to share the thank you card we just received.

Rain or Shine, Snow or Sleet

February 4th is a very special day… it’s Thank a Mailman Day!
We decided to take this opportunity to give a BIG thank you to our Mail Carrier who brings all kinds of letters and packages to our mailbox and doorstep.
What we did:
1. We wrote a handwritten letter (written by Roy) telling the mailman how much we appreciate him.

It said:

2-4-12

Dear Mailman,

Thank you for bringing our mail!

Roy, Dallas, and Dakota Hutchings

(In honor of National Thank a Mailman day - which is today)

2. We attached a candy bar to the handwritten note.

3. We took it out to the mailbox for our mailman to find.

4. Here is our response from the mailman.

It say's:

Awe Thank You!!! You guys are Awesome! I didn't even know that was today! :)
- Jett

We had a lot of fun today. Stay posted we have another service we have been working on and will post about soon. So make sure to check back or maybe become a follower :)
